Since its re-opening in early July 2021, Gros Cailloux Leisure Park has greeted visitors with a host of new attractions. Several new tracks/experiences and facilities have been added during the last few months, sure to delight everyone – whatever their age.
Celia Joubert has had a busy time overseeing the activities and the Leisure Park team since she joined Gros Cailloux in March 2021. As manager of the Park, she has been very involved in breathing new life into the place and above all in setting up new activities. Although the health crisis meant that the Park had to remain closed for several months, it did allow Celia and her team to renovate the site and work on some fresh concepts.
Following its re-opening, Gros Cailloux Leisure Park now has a range of activities for youngsters, under the supervision either of Park team members or relevant professionals. The programme each week includes sporting or zookeeper sessions, walks and picnics in the forest, various games, educational and recreational activities, and gardening and drama workshops. There’s certainly plenty to keep children busy while giving their parents time to relax. What’s more, from August onwards, there will also be yoga sessions within the Park for both youngsters and adults.
With the assistance of the Mauritian professional mountain biker, Matthieu Marion, the Park’s team has been working on new cycling tracks suitable for all users and has set up a top-quality bike rental scheme. More than three-kilometres long, routes will be regularly adjusted with the introduction of some slightly more demanding tracks. There’s also good news for those who prefer quad bikes rather than two-wheelers: new trails are now available for quad rides, with hour-long rather than thirty-minute trips.
L’Arche de Noé (Noah’s Ark) is Gros Cailloux’s animal sanctuary, where visitors can now opt to be accompanied by a guide. This provides a wonderful opportunity for visitors of all ages to enter into the enclosure and spend some enjoyable moments with the animals that have been rescued, having been abandoned or ill-treated or suffering from injuries or illness. A sponsorship scheme has also been set up in order to raise funds to look after the animals in the Arche de Noé.
Meanwhile, other Park activities remain unchanged. The programme includes ziplining, water-based activities on the lake (pedal boating, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding and fishing), as well as wakeboarding in the Wake Park.
Celia Joubert hasn’t finished yet! She’s working on setting up various projects for next year – but, for the moment, they are still top secret. So stay tuned…
